My mom is notorious for her chocolate cake. I don't know where the original recipe came from, but she has been making this since I was a kid Usually, I am not a huge fan of chocolate cake, but whenever she made this, I couldn't keep out of it. It was perfectly moist, not too dense and had just the right amount of chocolate.
A lot of homemade chocolate cakes aren't as moist as (gasp!) box mixes. But, hers is different. Just be careful not to over bake it. If the cake pulls away from the sides of the pan, it has cooked too long. Watch it carefully towards the end of cooking.
